Praying Through Ephesians ~ Ephesians 2:11-22 ~ Unity of The BelieversWhile studying this passage this week, the Lord sent me over to 1 Peter 2:4-10 and suddenly it clicked!! I could clearly (probably for the first time) see God’s intent for all believers on how we are to live and how the enemy constantly wars against it. I hope I’m able to convey this truth through prayer today and ask the Father to keep this mindset in me until eternity. Let’s pray,
O Father, I see! I love how you can suddenly set all the pieces before my eyes and Your Truths are made clear!! A new revelations I pray we shall take to heart; letting it seep down deep within to change each of us, one at a time until eventually Your church will be fitted together just how You always intended it to be.
O Father, I can truly see now why You resist the proud- those full of pride but give Your grace to the humble (1Peter 5:5) , for humility is the absolute essential ingredient needed to accomplish all You’ve designed and without true humility it is impossible to achieve the goal of unity.
In the beginning of this passage you call us twice to remember from where we have come from. To remember that at one time we were separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers with no hope, but through the blood of Christ Jesus we’ve been brought near and welcomed into Your family. Your Son and our Savior has broken down the walls that divided us and has reconciled us first to You, Father and then created one new man in place of the two, so making peace between us and He came and preached peace to us who were far off and peace to those who were near. Because of all Your Son has done on our behalf we now both have access in one Spirit to You, Father and we can come boldly to Your thrown of grace, in order to obtain mercy, and find grace to help in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) Hallelujah! May we never forget all we have gained, nor ever take it for granted!!
But ah! The greatest truth comes next when Your words reveals that in Him we are also being built together into a dwelling place for You, Father by Your Spirit. We are carefully being fashioned into a Temple with Christ Jesus, Himself being the Cornerstone,in Whom the whole structure is being joined together! 1 Peter 2 also claims we are living stone rejected by men but precious and chosen in Your sight and here lies the problem, for we are living stones with minds and wills of our own. We are stones that often forget where we’ve come from and all that Your Son has done on our behalf. We are living stones, full of pride that often demands our way. We are living stones that only when we are truly humble like our Savior is depicted in Phil 2:1-8 can we settle for being fashioned and fitted together in Christ Jesus into something glorious!
Father, I must stop here and confess there is still so much pride that dwells in me. I can be at enmity with believers and non believers alike and without Your Son and Holy Spirit living within me, I fear I’d never be able to truly humble myself enough to dwell in unity among all Your children. Father, I can clearly see why Your enemy works so hard to divide us, for also with unity comes protection, comfort, love, acceptance, support, joy, peace… You never intended for us to muddle through alone, but united – full of power, passion and promise! Father, may we remember from where we’ve come from. May we remember that in Christ we are now a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Your own possession, that we may proclaim the excellencies of You Who called us out of darkness into Your marvelous light. O Jesus come and reign and rule in our hearts reminding us constantly of Your Truth; teaching us to humbly walk beside You with our brothers, and most of all to love as You love, for it is in Your precious Name we humbly ask. Amen!
