Praying Through Ephesians ~ Eph 2:1-7

Praying Through Ephesians
Our study has been so rich and so full that my mind has had trouble trying to grasp all the truths we have found each week. I’d loved  to camp out and spend more time in each passage, but we need to move on,  so I’ve decided to turn the verses into a prayer and pray them back to our Father. I’m  publishing the prayers just in case there are others like me out there that would benefit by praying the Scriptures back to the Lord. Please add any prayer requests or added prayers in the comments! Let’s pray,
O Father, How grateful I am for this book of Ephesians and for allowing us the time to pause and dig into all that is here; to discover for ourselves all that we have in Christ Jesus. My mind goes back to 1 Cor 2:9, that says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” I confess this week my mind tried to imagine how Your early church must have tried to take this all in and yet, I realize that even I need to meditate on these truth more to truly let it all sink in, so that I may live it out here and now!

To think that we were spiritually dead in our transgressions and sins, in which we all used to live when we followed the ways of this world and the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. Help us to always remember that all of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But You, because of Your great love for us, You, who are so rich in compassion and mercy, made us spiritually alive in Christ even while we were spiritually dead in our sins. Father it is by Your grace, your unmerited favor that we did not deserve, we have been saved. And not only saved, but you have raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages You might show the incomparable/immeasurable riches of Your grace, expressed in Your kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

In Christ Jesus, In Christ Jesus, this truth keeps reverberating in my mind! We have gained way more than we could ever possible comprehend in finding favor in You, all because of Christ Jesus! O Father, I pray we never loose sight of all we’ve gained and exactly why we have all we’ve been given and may we extend that same love, compassion and grace to those You bring into our lives, those we deem worthy of that grace and those, like us, who are undeserving. May we forever be an expression of Your kindness and grace to a world that desperately needs to see and experience Your grace for themselves. It is in Christ Jesus and with a grateful heart that we ask all this. Amen.

  1. I am touched by your post today, Sue. This prayer is lovely and true to His heart – and mine. We do need to focus on HIm to block out the overwhelming circumstances of this world. His gifts to us as believers are never-ending, even in these trying days. His gift of His life, death, and resurrection are the most life-changing and life-fulfilling. His grace is amazing, for sure.. Thank you for sharing this prayer!

    • Thank you Kim! This study in Ephesians has been incredibly rich and often too much to take it all in at once. I’d love to apply the brakes and just park a while longer with new passage we study. These prayers are my way to keep meditating on all that’s in each passage. I also forgot to add that if anyone would like to join in the study , you are welcome to! Just stop by Women in the Word Facebook Page and request an invite!
