Today my sweet friend, Ashleigh, is going to share with us about the process of harvesting honey and also give great biblical application for our lives and our children’s as well. Hope you enjoy the post and then have a little honey to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8)!
God bless you, Waverly
Our family had our annual honey harvesting day recently. My husband and I always try to use God’s creation to teach biblical truths to our children, and honeybees fit the bill perfectly! Similar to ants, the worker bees have an incredible work ethic! They have no master or overseer, yet work with all of their little hearts. On the flip side, however, we have the drone honeybees. Their only job is to mate with the queen, so as far as contribution of “work” to the colony, they are non-producers. About this time of year, we see hundreds of dead drones lying about the hive for the reason laid out in II Thessalonians 3:10: “If a man (or bee ) 🙂 will not work, neither shall he eat”. The drones are kicked out by the rest of the colony based on this principle laid out for us in Scripture. I hope this to be great motivation for my young boys to be the providers for their families one day. Our day, of course, ended with sampling our work (actually, mainly the bees’ work)!
