My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish? Psalm 22:1
Have you ever felt this way? Let me ask you a very important question; are you sure of God’s love for you at this moment?
Are you wholly confident God loves you? I hope that you can answer emphatically, “Yes!” But if not, understand, even the Psalmist struggled at times. The words at the beginning of this verse are also the very words Christ spoke from the cross! I believe we all experience dry seasons; times when we cannot sense His presence. Sometimes it is because we have wandered, but there are also times when God grows silent for reasons only He fully understands.
I also believe Paul experienced times such as this in his ministry as well, and so he prays a prayer for the young believers in Thessalonica that all believers should pray! That God will direct us to His love and fill us with the patience and perseverance of Christ as we wait on Him in the midst of our trials, for giving it all over to the One who is able insures success!
