Hey Everyone !
A friend of mine wrote something about God’s grace that I thought everyone would be blessed to see and read for themselves! Bridget has been studying with us and blessing us just about daily at Women in the Word Facebook page. Here’s Bridget’s take on Ephesians 2:8 and I pray it will bless you as well:
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, Ephesians 2:8 (ESV) –
Right off the bat “by grace, through faith” jumps out. By grace, is definitive that our salvation is not by anything we can do. It is by grace. God IS Grace. Only He can bestow it. It is only by His example we have any concept of grace and by His command that we show it to others in His name.
Grace is a blessed gift, granted by a supremely loving Father towards children who were ungrateful, unappreciative and totally self serving prior to receiving it. That is why His grace is so powerful. Our histories are FILLED with reasons for why we DON’T deserve it, yet we have it still.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith.” Through faith…. through is a word we use when we need to describe something we traveled through usually. Whether it be traveled through traffic or traveled through a tunnel. Many will even use it to describe a circumstance or ordeal that was traveled through/endured. But consistently we think of passing through something. There was a path taken whether physical or metaphorical, we made it through something to arrive at a destination or reach the other side.
By grace, through faith. We are called, God had been seeking us and He called to us. We hear and we pass from this world of sin, muck and mire, in repentance, through the cleansing path of faith to be received anew creation, the helper having been imparted, by His blessed Grace, to the other side where He is waiting to walk with us through this life, in His glory, toward the riches of life in eternity with Him forever more. How AWESOME is our God!!!
We pass through by faith, being cleansed in His blood, justified by His death and sanctified by His resurrection, to receive His Grace in the gift of salvation. “And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,” ….. What a POWER PACKED verse we have in vs 8.
It amazes me, how so much can be revealed from such a small portion of His Word and yet the whole Bible is like that. This verse comes to mind: 2 Timothy 3:16 ESV – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
He breathes out life for us. Beginning with breathing life into us when we are born. Then breathing new life into us by His Grace through salvation. Then breathing life through His word so that in faith we shall grow strong in Him and mature so and our lives can mightily be used to glorify Him.
Our God is an AWESOME God!!! He is ever present! He is ever faithful! He is a God of Hope, Joy, Peace, Love and AMAZING GRACE indeed!!!
