Are you ready to cover some territory in this week’s passage? We sure hope so for there’s much in these verses. We’ll start by looking at walking wisely, move to Spirit-filled living and end with instructions to wives and husbands. It’s a packed week of study! You’ll find this week’s printouts at the end of this post along with a few sermons from John MacArthur to enrich your study should you have time. And if you haven’t joined us over at Women in the Word, consider yourself invited. Not only do we share insights the Lord gives us as we study but we pray for and encourage one another in this journey of life and in our walk with the Lord.
Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see You in Your truths. Grant us power in the inner man through Your Spirit to walk as you call us to walk. Soften our hearts to Your Words this week and lead us in the way everlasting. Help us calm our minds as we sit before you. Help us to put aside the busyness of life, the endless to do lists and the sounds of the world as we meet with You. Grow us in the image of Christ as we study Your Word. In Jesus’ name, we pray
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
