Buried Treasure Cookies a.k.a. Snickers Cookies

I usually like to make cookies where little hands can help, so this recipe was instantly a winner with me. The very first time we made them, one of my grandchildren  came up with the name “Buried Treasure Cookies” since we had to  “bury” the candy inside and make sure none of the candy was showing. (If any of the candy is showing it will not cook properly.) The name stuck with us after that day, but I wanted you all to know where the original recipe came from.

These are wonderful! They are actually a peanut butter cookie wrapped around a Snickers bar and they never last long at our house!!

 Printable Recipe

{Cookie made with SNICKERS®Bars.}

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. peanut butter
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. SNICKERS® bars, miniature size
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
Cream together sugar, brown sugar, butter and peanut butter. Add vanilla extract and eggs; mix. Add dry ingredients. Cut candy bars in fourths. Wrap dough around each piece forming a ball.Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350°F for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
{I like to melt about 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips with about 1/2 tablespoon shortening and drizzle over the top of the cookies. I usually like to make an “X” as in “X marks the spot” :} Enjoy!!

  1. So Yummy! I haven’t made this in a while…might have to grab some snickers and make a batch! Love your idea of drizzling chocolate over the top!
